Wargrave House is extremely proud to announce that they have been awarded with the Autism Advanced Status Accreditation by the National Autistic Society (NAS).

This is the highest level of accreditation awarded by the NAS and is an internationally recognised standard. This confirms from an external agency that the school and college provides a high level of consistent practice that benefits the learning and achievement of the students.

Stuart Jamieson, Head of Education said ”All our staff at Wargrave House were delighted to awarded ‘Advanced Autism accreditation‘ by the National Autistic Society. This acknowledgement underpins the passion, pride and professionalism that all our colleagues have, in both teaching and support staff, alongside our wider therapeutic input. The effectiveness of our consistent approach is embraced in every aspect of the daily learning, engagement and wider participation of all our learners and students across our 5-25 years provision.”

Highlights from the report include:

  • Within all observations, staff were caring in regard to learners’ social and emotional needs and they demonstrated positive attitudes and enthusiasm to the activities.
  • Learners presented as being calm and feeling secure throughout all observed activities.
  • In all observations, it was found that learners were well supported in their emotional wellbeing.
  • Staff consistently make themselves understood by using a range of differentiated strategies, adapted to meet the communication preferences of the learner. Learners are consistently able to make themselves understood to staff and their peers.
